swine flu, monkey flu, man flu, tortoise flu... it's just the flu

So, what is today? Thursday? No. Tuesday. I think it's Tuesday. Let me check. Yup, it's Tuesday, I missed Monday. I hate when that happens. I love that I always have to work my way backwards with you. As if so much happens on a daily basis that I in fact, cannot keep up. It's kinda cool if you think of it that way. So we'll work on today and go back. I promise! I have a lot of good stories for October.

So Saturday aka Halloween night (a whole other blog) I go to bed pretty tired but i hadn't slept much Thursday night or Friday night so that was kind of a given. But i had that strange tickle in the back of my throat that says, guess what you're bout to be sick. I woke up Sunday morning at like 6 am wanting to die. My throat was on fire and i was hot and sweaty and tired. I texted my friends and told them that I wanted to help and was more than willing to but they had to be aware that I was sick. I was supposed to babysit the baby Steelmans.

(I'll blog about that later... b/c it was adorable and so much fun)

Anyway when i got home from babysitting and laid down on my couch (also known as a small piece of heaven) and debated what the rest of the day had in store for me. I ended up bailing on everyone and eventually fell asleep. I'm not sure that was a genius idea because when i finally woke up I was a mess. I was miserable. Hot, sweaty, achey, throat on fire, and coughing so hard my back now hurt. I felt as though i was a female trapped in a man's body, whiny and helpless. It was bizarre.

After numerous bouts of teary moments I finally pulled myself together long enough to accept my neighbor and friend Allyn's offer to come over. He came over with roll of tp, can of soup and nyquil in hand. Standing there handing me stuff I was telling him how all of the sudden I was sick, as though a MAC truck ran over me and then i was crying. I shut the door and came back inside.

Well after a long night of misery, tears, sweating buckets, and coughing so hard i thought blood was bound to come up I finally fell asleep. I woke up to go straight to the doctor. Of course my doctor is on vacation and I spent the morning at Doctors on Duty, an urgent care clinic.

Picture this sad state of affairs. Me sitting in the doctor's office sweating so much I'm not only sticking to the paper on the hospital bed but creating a puddle of moisture. I get up in search for tissues. In my hunched over search I am unsuccessful. Out of pure frustration and exhaustion, I give up. I am not able to hop back on the bed instead i sit down on the foot rest of said bed. I might as well be sitting on the floor. I sit there in tears again because i can not find tissues and I'm now sitting on the floor. It's actually comical.

After a long doctor visit, strep swab, and a number of normal procedures that the nurse does before the doctor comes in and declares the verdict is the flu. "So doc two questions, the first. Do i have the swine flu?"
"Well, yeah pretty much"
"Fantastic, the second question, why in the world do I keep crying???"
She giggles and says, "Probably cuz you feel like hell."

After a long wait (once again) this time at CVS I finally get my medication, food and then am back home.

So Monday I slept most of the day away, Kim and Rodney both dropped off care packages. Rodney stupidly stayed and hung out for a bit. Monday was spent on my drugs and sleeping. I rec'd much love from my facebook friends and am being entertained by them as well.

Today, Kathy and my mom both dropped off care packages and ran. Literally, ran. hahaha Kim did the same thing. Makes me giggle. I love that both Kathy and my mom gave me a bag of chips, am I that predictable? :) I have decided to stay home and do nothing for the rest of the evening. I've even emailed my professors and am not going to school, at least not tonight.

I've been eating soup like my popi made, lots of garlic and lots of pepper with a cup of orange juice. Always amazing! Just a few moments ago I made chicken curry like mom made. Both have made me feel fantastic!!

So now I'm bored and blogging. I have 9 chapters to read and a shit ton to do for the Jaycees but oh well I wanted to write you instead. That's the latest and greatest of me. I'm feeling much better, still sweating but that could be because it's 80 on November 3rd and I'm in a long sleeve shirt and a sweatshirt. But heck I do have shorts on!! :D I have been in the same thing since Sunday hahahah maybe it's time to shower and change :) Ok one story down, many to go... I have to at least tell you what happened all of October.

Good reading!
